Be Vigilant and Courageous

...And, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Today as I was outside clean around the house in my designer flip flops picking up sticks, I was startled by a snake. I jumped and ran around the house to get the shovel. I was scared for sure. But I killed my first snake. A two feet rattle snake. The snake was near the vegetable garden that my son waters every morning and evening.

I am not one to kill anything, not even a snake. In fact, I always get someone else to deal with it or just wait for the thing to slither away. But this time I just had it. I can't have someone else do this every time I encounter a snake. Something rose inside of me and just said enough is enough! I grabbed the shovel and my Spanish language came out. "If I don't do this who will and what if my kids encounter it next"... But not this time! I am dealing with this.

The thing was hissing and rattling so I knew I was in danger now. Wish I would have had steel toed boots and some strong tough pants... But nope, I had a skirt and flip flops blinging in the sun. With a long handled shovel in my hands, it went down and I killed it. Like I mentioned, I'm not one to kill anything not even a snake but there comes a time when the intruder comes to your safe place of comfort and security and you have to deal with it personally. It could have easily gone the other way. That rattler could have bit me unaware on my bare feet before I knew it struck me. However, I have seen in motion snakes and where they hide so I was aware of my surrounding. Yet for a minute, I got a bit comfortable. Don't get to comfortable stay vigilant!

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1Peter 5:8

This was a lesson to me, that although it's our home of safety and comfort the enemy can come in unaware and bite. Be vigilant naturally but most importantly, be vigilant spiritually. The Lord is with us always and His protection is needed but we must also stay vigilant that we pray without ceasing and protect and observe your borders and surrounding of not only your house, but our heart.

Guard your heart! If we are not careful we could not only let the enemy in, but also begin to have attributes and character of it further down the line if we don't deal with it then.

Through out my life, I knew one day I would have snake encounters and I've been preparing for it. I never wanted to personally deal with it until I finally had enough of it. I was not going to have that snake control me, not today. Today I was strong enough to not only deal with it, but to also kill it. It felt good to finally overcome that thing. It was important today that I kill it instead of it getting me or my children. It was small in size comparison to how big I am. However, it was poisonous and I knew it. It has a nature of striking a deadly poisonous bite.

They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.~ Mark 16:18

My representation of taking up serpents is, that I dealt with it with some fear but in Courage.

Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed...~2 Chronicles 32:7

If I can share anything in this blog is that be watchful of your heart and your surroundings and pray, pray, pray the Lord protects you and your family. Apply the word of God to your heart. It's not enough to read His word but apply it let it become your DNA. Above all, be Courageous knowing God is with us and your more than just a nobody, your the Bride of Christ in training to defeat the enemy by putting him under your feet even in flip flops, Praise God Almighty...
