Enter Instead Into His Will
Luke 22: 40-46 says this: And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.
And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,
Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.
And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,
And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.
The urgency of prayer is to keep us from temptation that we don't fall into it. Yet, while Jesus told His disciple to pray, they fell asleep. And while Jesus was in agony in prayer, an angel from heaven came to strengthen Jesus during this trying time.
As I read this scripture I had this revelation that Jesus needed the disciple to pray with Him and perhaps for Him in the moment of agony just before going to the cross saying, "Father if thou be willing, remove this cup from me"; Yet, the disciples fell asleep and Jesus was left praying alone. So an angel appeared from heaven during this time of agony before the cross to strengthen Him.
In verse 46 it reads, "And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. If Jesus Himself was saying, "Let this cup pass." Yet, because of prayer, He was able to say, "Never the less not my will, but Thine be done."
I take this scripture and see how it fits my life. How many times has the Lord drawn me/us to pray for ourselves and even for others only to fall asleep? Sleeping literally at 3am when He awaken us and draws us to pray, or even in our busy life, when He draws us to pray with a friend, family member, neighbor, or even the stranger next to us...The agony of their trials perhaps telling them "Remove this cup." Could our prayers strengthen them...I believe so
Jesus praying, brought the angel from heaven to strengthen Him to continue onto the cross to finally defeat and overcome the enemy saying, "It is finished."
So, Just Pray that you enter not into temptation but to be Strengthened to moving forward to the purposed He has called you to Walk in. Do not enter into the temptation choose to pray that you Enter instead into His will.
