They need to hear you say it...
They need to Hear you say the words "You're forgiven" and they need to See it in action.
Jesus knew the sick man needed to hear those words but the Pharisees not understanding in their hearts said Jesus a blasphemer. But His response to their evil hearts He says this;
Matthew 9:4-7 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to Forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house. And he arose, and departed to his house.
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. The man sick of the palsy needed to hear He was forgiven and then Jesus acted on it and said rise up and walk.
How many times have we been so hurt by people that it spiritually stricken us with palsy. Palsy in meaning is a weakness and the loss of feeling and uncontrolled body movements such as shaking. We give up the will to try and love or bond again to anyone and we become numb and our thoughts begin to wander everywhere uncontrollably because our hearts where broken shaken and shattered...
The man with the palsy needed to hear he was forgiven that's why Jesus verbalized it. Jesus also told the world by placing Himself on the cross as a reminder that we are all forgiven if we would just forgive ourselves and accept His gift to us. I forgive you. Even on the cross he says "Father forgive them for they know not what they do."
Genesis 3:8,9 And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden. And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
A good relationship is strengthened by the willingness to forgive one another knowing that there will be mistakes made. Some will be intentional and some not intentional. The value of forgiveness is choosing to pursue the relationship no matter the wrong for the sake of communion with one another.
Is that not what the Love of God for us did when He sacrificed His only Begotten Son to die in our place and took all our sin and mistakes even while we were yet doing them...He still choose to forgive us. He knew how lost we where without forgiveness and He so wanted the communion and fellowship once more from the beginning when He talked and walked with Adam and Eve in the beginning.
Adam Hid from God because he was scared because he knew he let God down. After that God knew He was going to have to make a way to bring us all back in communion with Him and He had a plan in place. It would take many many years to fulfill it but He did do it.
Relationships and even friendships get tried. Jesus had twelve disciple but he called them His Friends. Moses and Abraham were also friends of God.
John 15: 15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
Faithful are the wounds of a friend and a friend loves at all times. Jesus is a friend that stick's closer than a brother.
Friendship's will be tried also because there is much value in that. It has to do with communion, the fellowship of the brethren and above all, Unity. There is strength in numbers and the enemy is always trying to break that communion because its such a Gem
In the garden the unity of a marriage between husband and wife was tried and the friendship of all of them was tried. It was the love that God had for us to forgive and sacrifice Himself for all of it to regain what was lost; unity and communion.
We needed to hear Him tell us we were forgiven and we needed to see it so He died on the cross for us. No greater love than this...
John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Matthew 18:21, 22 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
Jesus knows about forgiveness because He is forgiveness so the tell us to not only forgive but to forgive your brother in the Lord until seventy times seven.
