Just One Step

So many steps taken that put distance between you and I. Not that You moved at all. But it was I who moved. I pursued another voice calling me away to a place that sounded so exciting and promising to make me a better individual. And that's the thing, I was an individual of self and myself; with You know where in my sight although I was the apple of Your eye.

So many steps took me miles away and brought a great distance between You and I. And even from afar, You watched me and I was still in Your heart.

As I drifted apart from You in individuality, I thirsted and hungered for relationship. Individuality had a hold of me to stay away from You. More steps multiplied between You and I until one day I was exhausted of self and needed Communion. It was a longing that would not go away for it was stronger than my individuality. I longed for a Union of two.

Although I took so many steps from You for so many, many years, it took but one to bring me back to You. The step of Repentance brought me back to You Lord. The Spiritual Union I longed for, me and You.

Many years and many steps I took that put a great distance between me and You but it was just the one step of repentance that closed the gap. For Your hand reaches far beyond the miles of time and eternity to embrace my longing soul to be closer to You. That is why You are the way, the truth, and the life of me. I want to always stay by Your side and walk with You my Lord.
