Beautiful Messed Up Mind
We can have such knowledge and intellect and still have a messed up mind once in awhile...
We all can go through a phase or get into a funk of a messed up mind from trauma, drama, and just stressed out that our thinking is confused, clouded and distorted.
I think of Naomi in the book of Ruth how she suffered such trauma that she became so bitter that her mind was a mess. So much so, that she thought God was against her.
Ruth 1:13, 20,21...nay, my daughters; for it grieveth me much for your sakes that the hand of the Lord is gone out against me.
And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me. I went out full and the Lord hath brought me home again empty: why then call ye me Naomi, seeing the Lord hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath afflicted me?
It's however, times like these that even in a season of hardship God has people in our lives to help us get through it. Naomi's husband and sons had all died and she had no one left but Ruth, who was her daughter in law. Ruth stuck with her regardless of Naomi's bitterness and messed up thinking of hopelessness.
Ruth 1:16-18 And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:
Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the Lord do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.
When she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, then she left speaking unto her.
Ruth 4:14-17 And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the Lord, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel.
And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him.
And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it.
And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

We can all get into a season of being in a messed mind of confusion and God knows we are probably fighting the fight of our lives; the battle of the mind our thinking, our own thoughts perhaps listening to such negativity we become isolated in a corner and hide the world. And yet, the Lord brings someone along who won't let us stay there messed up, who will love us even in that mess of confusion and is willing to help us get out of that place. Who is willing to make our mess their mess... As we read that Orpah kissed her mother in law but then left her while Ruth clave to her. She didn't leave her side didn't kiss her and leave, but she stayed in that place with her. Who or what gave Ruth such hope for her family and friend there? Yes she was her mother in law but somehow there had to be a friendship establish some place during those years. If you didn't truly and genuinely love them why would you stay otherwise at anytime no matter the occasion...
As we read in the story there was so many different types of divine love that God began to show Naomi through Ruth. Ruth, going through such a process later became the blood line linage of Jesus. And isn't that like Jesus to love us so much that even while we were yet sinner Christ died for us. He was as Boaz was to Naomi, our kinsman redeemer.
Ruth 4:14-17 And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the Lord, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel.

Naomi's thinking was in bitterness and how she though Gods hand left her but in actual, HE was preparing her for the divine of something eternal that she herself was more blessed then she could ever have thought or understand. But she didn't do this alone she had a friend, her daughter in law Ruth who loved her and clave to her even in the mess. It was in actual beautiful, messed up mind of Blessed.
May we also pay close attention to those around us and may we be there for our friends and family as Ruth did. And, when we get in the funk of a messed up mind, be attentive to who stays even though we try to shoo them away as Naomi did. Perhaps, God placed them there for a greater blessing we may never know till seasons later. Jesus is a friend that sticks closer than a brother and we have such a friend in Jesus who loves us so. Jesus saves because He stays!
