Rise From thy Bed
In the disease of sickness I felt strength leave me; tearing my frame, my life. Melting down deep within the linen and mattress... Strength seeped out.
The very existence of me was rapidly being snuffed out like a campfire in a hurricane. Sudden back to back blows of something vile and greater unknown, assaulted me... Sickness extinguished the light.
Exhausted and fragile I laid limp in that bed of linen and fear. Agony and pain cannot cry out because my voice was being suffocated. One could enter the room but none could help. The strangulation of chills and fever overwhelmed my body; my bones quietly chattered and yet, it was violently felt... Substance left me.
Healing whispered into my ear, “Be made whole, rise up from thy bed and walk. Believe that I can and you will. Hear the voice of healing calling out to you. Rise up from thy bed and live again. Do this in remembrance of me... Healing is already, Hear!”
Then suddenly as the Word went forth, Rest came to me in a form I had never know. One can be doing nothing and still be ever so restless. One can also be about Purpose and still be at rest.
Rest in its root meaning is intermission or Re Creation. Recreation was at work and all that I had before, was drained out. I was replenished by a greater strength. For my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may "Rest" upon me.
