The Promise, I Still Do
The Promise...
today it blooms, almost forgotten
from a covenant made long ago
to the Groom.
For better, for worse, for richer for poor,
in sickness and in health. A month ago near death
they almost did part,
too broken, a heart.
To have and to hold
by her side he did cling.
HE watched over thee...
What they took for granted
they found in sickness,
the most wonderful thing.
The words lashed out
were of constant rejections.
In actual, was a love that was missed,
our covenant sealed with a kiss.
The Promise, to have and to hold
a fabulous story yet, to unfold.
A covenant being told
till they grew very old.
Today,
Therefore they are no more two, but one flesh. "What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.” Matthew 19:6
